Description: The MMU containerised medical unit is intended for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic as a humanitarian donation to Ukraine.
Together with Ukrainian partners, the design of a small field hospital was specified, consisting of a containerised medical unit and a small clinic in a tented configuration. The recipient of this donation is the medical unit of the Ukrainian National Guard brigade known as ‘Hurricane’ (Буревій), led by Colonel Dr Vsevolod Stebliuk.
The container section was prepared by BLOCK CRS a.s. This is a so-called MMU (Modular Medical Unit) comprising an operating theatre with a preparation area and recovery room in one container, and an intensive care unit located alongside the sterilisation facility in a second container. This medical unit will be used as an extension to a hospital where the aforementioned facilities are lacking in the existing healthcare provision, thereby supplementing the necessary medical care. However, the proposed design and equipment of the entire unit allow it, following minor modifications, to be used even in areas where there is no infrastructure whatsoever. The aim is to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure and enable this unit to be deployed to any area where it is needed.
The supply from BLOCK CRS a.s. is complemented by the second part of the mobile hospital from Comedeq s.r.o., which contributes five surgical operating theatres (for day surgery) and a hospitalisation tent for 16 patients. All of this is housed in mobile inflatable medical tents manufactured by EGO Zlín, spol. s r. o., which can be set up in 5 minutes. The comprehensive equipment for the surgical suites includes, for example, an electrosurgical unit, a surgical examination chair, an operating theatre light and a steriliser. The supply also includes consumables (surgical sutures, gloves, dressings, aseptic plasters, etc.) so that the entire unit can be put into immediate and full use.
In addition to the companies mentioned above, other members of AVDZP (Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices) also contributed to the preparation of the small field hospital with their supplies. AVDZP is the largest Czech association in the healthcare industry. The association brings together more than a hundred Czech manufacturers and suppliers of medical devices, technologies and services. Its main mission is to support all its members and to create the best possible conditions for their business operations and growth.
